{Closing it down}

When I first began this fitness blog and this blog, I'm not sure why I set-up two separate blogs. Who knows what my thinking was at that time. What I do know is this, it's kind of annoying to me to have all these different blogs to keep up with! So, with that in mind, I'll no longer be posting on this particular blog. Everything will now go on the other link mentioned. I'll still keep this one up for those past blogs I've made and you can link to the "real" blog from here as well.

Happy blogging!

{Good workout for being sick}

Today was a good great workout. I surprised even myself. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then ran for 20 minutes. *high five* I also went to the grocery store for the 6 meals I'll be making over the course of this weekend. So, I spent less than $100 on food for those 6 meals. *score* What did I learn? I learned that Sprouts winter squashes are 22 cents cheaper than King Soopers. Next time, I'll buy everything at Sprouts and see if I noticed a huge difference.

Tomorrow I may definitely feel today's workout. The best part about today's workout? I'm still sick and hacking up yuckiness.

The 6 Meals I'll make this weekend:

- Adzuki Bean & Winger Squash Soup
- Curried Carrot Soup
- Tofu & Curried Vegetable Soup
- Broiled Salmon Steaks
- Spinach Salad with Egg & Bacon
- Curried Egg Salad

{UFC Trainer}

I did the UFC Trainer for the Kinect last night for my workout. I only did the 10 minute one because I was low on time at that point but it was a pretty intense workout and I liked it. I shall continue and I think it was a pretty good $20 investment.

{Excited}

So, I don't really beleive in New Years resolutions. I think if you really want to start something new, why wait? Why put off tomorrow what can be done today, right? I've recently gotten the idea to do something new though so this may seem like a resolution but it's totally not. I'm just sayin. ;)

Anyway, I may have mentioned before wanting to run a 5k race each month for the rest of the year. I hate running, so that makes me extra determined for some reason to do this. The first race I'm going to participate in is The Resolve 5k/10k. I'm actually pretty excited for it. I'll sign up for it on Thursday or Friday.

I also can say I am extremely happy with the company I work for. Well, at least part of it anyway. They use to reimburse gym membership fees, up to $250. 2012 is the last year for this though. Not a happy camper about this. The new thing they're doing is dumb and will just lead to more people gaining weight because they will be cheating bastards. Instead of reimbursing the gym fees, now, using Virgin Health Miles, you can earn extra "points" per se to use towards doctors visits. Dumb. Why? Because people cheat (I've seen it) with those stupid step counters. Anyway, I digress as to what I actually like about my health coverage. Through my insurance, I get a huge discount on gym memberships. For instance, when I first signed up last year, it cost over $400 for a year long gym membership with 24 Hour Fitness. With my discount, it cost me $268 for a year membership, to include a $29 activation fee. This year it gets even better. There is no activation fee and I get another discount! For this year it's only $189! The fees have gone up at the gym and a year long membership now costs $449!! Insane, right?

One thing I'm also interested in is joining a Crossfit gym. So, I'm torn between doing the year membership again if I do Crossfit as well. My gym doesn't have any classes for Crossfit (surprisingly, since they have every other class known). I'm seriously interested in it though. Especially, after reading about it in Liz's, One Twenty Five blog. It seems to be pretty expensive though! The one gym I think I'm interested in is $110!! For one month. *sheesh* I'd do it though, even in conjunction with my other gym. My friend and I are going to try to get together this weekend to compare calendars since we have drastically different work schedules to see if we can get together one week for this gyms "free" week and try it out. Even if we can't, I'm still going to do the free week, see how I like it. If I do, then I seriously may just sign up for a month and still do the 24 Hour Fitness membership. I mean, how can I pass up a year long membership for $189?! No matter what, I won't be able to continuously do the crossfit each month. I'm trying to get bills paid off here! ;)

Tonight's exercise?

UFC Personal Trainer for the Kinect. Oh yeah, uh-huh uh-huh. ;)

{Sickly}

I hate making lists and saying I {will} do this and then it doesn't happen. I can say, in my defense, I got sick while in Texas. Before getting sick, though, I did run two days while in Texas. The rest of my time, I was drugged up on sinus & cold meds. Everything was reduced to a hazed state of mind. I am glad that I ran while I could. I wish I would not have gotten sick because I know I would have ran more. As it turns out, I could barely breathe while sitting on the couch, much less attempting to run. :(  I've also not worked out since I got back on Christmas Day thanks to this stupid cold.

Anyway! So, with the new year (actually beginning tomorrow), I'm going to start a new way of eating. I'm going to try to follow the "Type A" plan that follows people's blood types. I decided to try this based what a few people I work with said about it and reading it myself. You know, I really could care less that a few scientist say this diet is bullshit; that you can't determine what people eat on their blood type. For myself, I will be eating healthier foods and it comes with a plan. It's food I like as well. For instance, it says Type A's produce a lot of mucus and should eat less dairy because dairy products produce more mucus and are prone to have more infections because of the mucus. I, for one, can say it is true for myself. I am a type A, I definitely produce a lot of mucus (gross, right?! TMI?), I definitely notice and increase in mucus when I drink milk (gross, I know), and I can't even begin to tell you the amount of sinus infections I have each year.  So, if by eating differently will help me have less sinus infections each year, I will gladly change my diet. I can't even begin to tell you how tired I am of having them. We'll see if this works.

As far as my exercise... I think I do pretty good with working out for the most part. I do believe it will be easier for me to work out once my schedule changes. I will work 2 days, then immediately work 2 nights and then have 4 days off (really 3 1/2). This change will happen on Jan 26/27 time-frame. Right now, I'm thinking I'll take that first day off from working out since it will be the day my body adjusts to going back to days.

So, that's my plans/goals right now.

{I made it!}

To the gym that is, not to the bodypump class. I've decided it's probably not a good thing to wait so long after getting out of work to head to the gym. So, I just went after getting home and did pretty well also! I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes on the bike, and 15 minutes on the stair master. Now if I can only master the eating better portion!!!
