{Closing it down}

When I first began this fitness blog and this blog, I'm not sure why I set-up two separate blogs. Who knows what my thinking was at that time. What I do know is this, it's kind of annoying to me to have all these different blogs to keep up with! So, with that in mind, I'll no longer be posting on this particular blog. Everything will now go on the other link mentioned. I'll still keep this one up for those past blogs I've made and you can link to the "real" blog from here as well.

Happy blogging!

{Good workout for being sick}

Today was a good great workout. I surprised even myself. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then ran for 20 minutes. *high five* I also went to the grocery store for the 6 meals I'll be making over the course of this weekend. So, I spent less than $100 on food for those 6 meals. *score* What did I learn? I learned that Sprouts winter squashes are 22 cents cheaper than King Soopers. Next time, I'll buy everything at Sprouts and see if I noticed a huge difference.

Tomorrow I may definitely feel today's workout. The best part about today's workout? I'm still sick and hacking up yuckiness.

The 6 Meals I'll make this weekend:

- Adzuki Bean & Winger Squash Soup
- Curried Carrot Soup
- Tofu & Curried Vegetable Soup
- Broiled Salmon Steaks
- Spinach Salad with Egg & Bacon
- Curried Egg Salad

{UFC Trainer}

I did the UFC Trainer for the Kinect last night for my workout. I only did the 10 minute one because I was low on time at that point but it was a pretty intense workout and I liked it. I shall continue and I think it was a pretty good $20 investment.

{Excited}

So, I don't really beleive in New Years resolutions. I think if you really want to start something new, why wait? Why put off tomorrow what can be done today, right? I've recently gotten the idea to do something new though so this may seem like a resolution but it's totally not. I'm just sayin. ;)

Anyway, I may have mentioned before wanting to run a 5k race each month for the rest of the year. I hate running, so that makes me extra determined for some reason to do this. The first race I'm going to participate in is The Resolve 5k/10k. I'm actually pretty excited for it. I'll sign up for it on Thursday or Friday.

I also can say I am extremely happy with the company I work for. Well, at least part of it anyway. They use to reimburse gym membership fees, up to $250. 2012 is the last year for this though. Not a happy camper about this. The new thing they're doing is dumb and will just lead to more people gaining weight because they will be cheating bastards. Instead of reimbursing the gym fees, now, using Virgin Health Miles, you can earn extra "points" per se to use towards doctors visits. Dumb. Why? Because people cheat (I've seen it) with those stupid step counters. Anyway, I digress as to what I actually like about my health coverage. Through my insurance, I get a huge discount on gym memberships. For instance, when I first signed up last year, it cost over $400 for a year long gym membership with 24 Hour Fitness. With my discount, it cost me $268 for a year membership, to include a $29 activation fee. This year it gets even better. There is no activation fee and I get another discount! For this year it's only $189! The fees have gone up at the gym and a year long membership now costs $449!! Insane, right?

One thing I'm also interested in is joining a Crossfit gym. So, I'm torn between doing the year membership again if I do Crossfit as well. My gym doesn't have any classes for Crossfit (surprisingly, since they have every other class known). I'm seriously interested in it though. Especially, after reading about it in Liz's, One Twenty Five blog. It seems to be pretty expensive though! The one gym I think I'm interested in is $110!! For one month. *sheesh* I'd do it though, even in conjunction with my other gym. My friend and I are going to try to get together this weekend to compare calendars since we have drastically different work schedules to see if we can get together one week for this gyms "free" week and try it out. Even if we can't, I'm still going to do the free week, see how I like it. If I do, then I seriously may just sign up for a month and still do the 24 Hour Fitness membership. I mean, how can I pass up a year long membership for $189?! No matter what, I won't be able to continuously do the crossfit each month. I'm trying to get bills paid off here! ;)

Tonight's exercise?

UFC Personal Trainer for the Kinect. Oh yeah, uh-huh uh-huh. ;)

{Sickly}

I hate making lists and saying I {will} do this and then it doesn't happen. I can say, in my defense, I got sick while in Texas. Before getting sick, though, I did run two days while in Texas. The rest of my time, I was drugged up on sinus & cold meds. Everything was reduced to a hazed state of mind. I am glad that I ran while I could. I wish I would not have gotten sick because I know I would have ran more. As it turns out, I could barely breathe while sitting on the couch, much less attempting to run. :(  I've also not worked out since I got back on Christmas Day thanks to this stupid cold.

Anyway! So, with the new year (actually beginning tomorrow), I'm going to start a new way of eating. I'm going to try to follow the "Type A" plan that follows people's blood types. I decided to try this based what a few people I work with said about it and reading it myself. You know, I really could care less that a few scientist say this diet is bullshit; that you can't determine what people eat on their blood type. For myself, I will be eating healthier foods and it comes with a plan. It's food I like as well. For instance, it says Type A's produce a lot of mucus and should eat less dairy because dairy products produce more mucus and are prone to have more infections because of the mucus. I, for one, can say it is true for myself. I am a type A, I definitely produce a lot of mucus (gross, right?! TMI?), I definitely notice and increase in mucus when I drink milk (gross, I know), and I can't even begin to tell you the amount of sinus infections I have each year.  So, if by eating differently will help me have less sinus infections each year, I will gladly change my diet. I can't even begin to tell you how tired I am of having them. We'll see if this works.

As far as my exercise... I think I do pretty good with working out for the most part. I do believe it will be easier for me to work out once my schedule changes. I will work 2 days, then immediately work 2 nights and then have 4 days off (really 3 1/2). This change will happen on Jan 26/27 time-frame. Right now, I'm thinking I'll take that first day off from working out since it will be the day my body adjusts to going back to days.

So, that's my plans/goals right now.

{I made it!}

To the gym that is, not to the bodypump class. I've decided it's probably not a good thing to wait so long after getting out of work to head to the gym. So, I just went after getting home and did pretty well also! I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes on the bike, and 15 minutes on the stair master. Now if I can only master the eating better portion!!!

{3 Days worth of classes}

Ok. So, here it is! I'm going to do 3 days worth of classes after work this week.

Monday = BodyPump at 7:30
Tuesday = Cycle 6:30 / Yoga 7:30
Wednesday = BodyFlow

Thursday I'm off to Texas to spend Christmas with my parents. I'll hit the post gym Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday as well most likely, it will just be a matter of finding the time with my niece and nephew. Monday will depend on the post gym schedule since it's Christmas Eve, but I'm sure it's doable. Tuesday I'll take the day off since it's Christmas day and I'll be flying back to Colorado.  I'll have to check out my gyms schedule for the rest of the week of Christmas.

{BodyFlow}

It's been awhile but I have been working out, just not as extensively. Working crew makes it hard. An excuse, I know. I've been going to the body flow class again.  Here's the 24 Hours description of it...

BODYFLOW™ is a Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

It's a great class and I love it. It's intense while being relaxing at the same time, if that makes any sense.  I'm still extremely sore from yesterday's workout. Yesterday I did the 30 minute CXWorx.  Here's that description...

 a 30-minute revolution in core training, transforming the muscles that power your body every day. Our tried-and-true formula of great choreography and chart-topping music, presented by inspirational instructors and backed by cutting-edge scientific research, will help you run faster… play harder… stand stronger.

Holy moly! Talk about an intense workout!!!  It's only 30 minutes long but I can't tell you how insanely sore I am today. It's definitely a good sore.

{Back and Chest}

Today's workout was back, chest, and cardio.  It was a pretty good workout. I got there around 9:30/9:45 a.m. and was completely surprised by how many people were there!  I still need to get in my squats for the day and a few extra to make up for missing 2 days of squats for the #frostyfitnesschallenge! I'm way behind with only having done 25 so far! :^/

For cardio, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical.

Blurry photo from my hands being shaky after that workout!  :)
Geaux Tigers! ;)

The barbell pullover was much harder than I'd anticipated. Because I'd never done it before, I used the 25lb bar. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to do it correctly and then on rep #5 (first set), my shoulders rotated back and I thought I was going to drop the bar! It was over my head, but because I'm short, it landed on the bench. Whew. I almost started laughing out loud at myself and decided to go lower in weight until I can master it. So, I went down to 20lbs.  It still felt weird but I was able to get more use out of it on a lower weight.  Here's the video on how it's supposed to be done...

I also don't know if I mentioned it or not, but this is the workout plan I'm using right now. I'm not really following the diet portion of it so much. Just the workout portion.  I'll switch it up to something new after 3 weeks.

{Oh happy day}

Today began very lazy.  I had a massive headache last night after dinner with friends. So, I decided to take two 800mg motrin once I got home and I passed out on the couch shortly after. I woke-up around 6am but was so tired (after affect from too much motrin) so went back to sleep. I slept off and on until 10:45'ish!!!  Anyway, I decided to finally get it together and get up.  After some social media time (yep, I'm addicted) I made some homemade Alfredo! It was quite good but a previous recipe I'd made was way better.  Anyway, At 5pm I finally made it to the gym!! Yay, me! haha :)

I walked 5 minutes on the treadmill for a short warm-up and then ran for 20 minutes (with a 2 1/2 minute break - I made up for that break though by running longer to make it a full 20 minute run).

Another reason for a happy day, other than the run?! My new scarf came in the mail! Woot!  :)

{Lazy Days}

I should have went to the gym today for some cardio. Instead, I chose to be lazy and watch TV and take a nap. By the time I actually got up to do anything, it was already 4pm and I chose instead to go grocery shopping. I'd decided against going to get dinner and drinks with some co-workers at 6pm but while grocery shopping a friend called to go anyway so I decided to go. On the drive down there I started to get a headache. It never really went away and now that I'm home, the headache is as fierce as ever. :(  I took two 800mg motrin pretty much as soon as I got home. Hopefully, it goes away soon. Tomorrow though I'll definitely head to the gym for some cardio.

{Do I HAVE to?!}

Ugh. I so did not want to work out this morning. The dog woke me up at 4:30 this morning, an hour before my alarm was set to go off and I never got back to sleep. I definitely did not feel like going to the gym but thought once I got there and started working out, I'd feel better about it like I often do. This was not the case. :( Even after working out for 45 minutes on arms and shoulders and being at home now, I still didn't feel like working out. Now, I just feel kinda blah, but I'm still glad I went. I didn't do my cardio but decided I'll determine how I feel after work to go back for cardio or not.

{Oh no she di'int}

So, I met a guy from eHarmony today (it was a good time, I thought). The plan was to meet for drinks after work at 5:30. So, what's this girl do? I leave work an hour early just so I can have time to go to the gym for a chest and back workout with 20 minutes of cardio. Oh yeah. That's right, uh-huh, I sho did. haha Anyway, so I never really have a hard time working out. Sure, I skip days occasionally  but I think the real issue is my eating habits. What is my eating habit you ask? Well, I don't really have one. I TRY to eat the healthy stuff, I just get tired of making it. I go through off and on's with cooking. I get tired of the same thing over and over again. What does one do in that instance? Anyway, I'm thinking of meeting up with a nutritionist sometime in the new year to see what exactly one does do in that instance. I'd do it now but am using the excuse of spending all my $$ on my niece and nephew for Christmas. Yes, I'd rather spoil them than take care of my nutritional needs right now. My choice. Anyway, that is all.  :)

{Torture}

Ha! I just had to share this! I was inputting tomorrow's back and chest workout into my phone (I use the workout as my locked screen saver... much easier to carry it around since I already have it with me) and one of the workouts is "bent over barbell row."  Well, I was using swype to "type" it in and for the word "row" my phone took the swyped word of "torture" instead!  How right you are, smartphone, how right you are...

{Yup}

{154}

That's the official number. Blah.  Such a depressing number for someone who is only 5'2".  I went to the gym this morning and did just a 5 minute warm-up on the elliptical and then ran for 25 minutes. I'd originally set my time for 20 minutes but as I got down to the 20 minute mark, I felt like I could go more and so ran for another 5 minutes.  That's more than likely due to the pre-workout energy drink I had this morning, but whatever, I'll take it. ;)

***Update***
Wow! I've impressed myself and went to the gym after work for my leg workout!  :) Woot Woot!  :)

{Get off your lazy bum and work it, guuuurrrrllll}

Ugh. I do NOT feel like working out today. I want to be lazy and lay on the couch all day, wasting my life away vegging out. Watch TV. Read. Sleep. Clean. ANYthing but workout. *Sigh* Unfortunately, something is wrong with my plumbing and I can't take a shower at home (little to no water pressure). What does that mean? That means I can either A) absolutely be a complete bum, being gross included or B) workout AND shower at the gym. I'm actually leaning more towards B.

***Update***
Soooo... Yeaaaaaa... I did leave eventually and make it to the gym. I did 30 pushups before I left though and I didn't eat very much at all this morning so I then felt like crap. By the time I actually got to the gym, I didn't even feel like being there anymore. I still went, though, and was on the treadmill for 25 minutes. I ran for a total of 11 minutes and walked the rest. I {hate} running. I also {hate} pushups. I'll still do p/u's for my workouts but I won't like it. :p As for the running, I've decided maybe, just maybe, I'll sign myself up for some 5k. Even though I hate doing it, I know running is good for getting in shape. I usually do the elliptical for 20-45 minutes (depending on my mood) for cardio. I should so more running though.

Anyway, here are a few images that I feel describe me and my hate of these two things:

What I feel I look like when running...

Ahh, so true...

FU PU!!
Is it obvious I like working out in Pink and Black?

That is all.

{Burn, baby, burn}

I made it to the gym today after work! Yay!!  :)  I worked my back and did 30 minutes of the elliptical. While I was leaving I saw this shaker bottle and HAD to buy it. How awesome is this thing?!

It's a 3-in-1 shaker!

The bottom two pieces screw off!

The middle piece was made to hold pills!
The bottom piece holds your protein!

Seriously, this was ingenious! Another GREAT thing about it? It was $8.99!! It didn't even come to $10 after taxes. So, anyway, I feel great from my workout. Tomorrow I should be a little sore but it will be a welcome feeling.

Oh yeah, not sure if I mentioned it in a previous post or not but I weighed myself at the gym the other day and I'm a solid 155. Blah. 10lbs to lose and I'll be a happy, short-term, camper. Long-term, I'll have another 15lbs to lose.

{Lookin Good there, Tiger}

I definitely did not want to work out today. I had plenty of time after getting out of work since I got out around 1pm. Instead, my tired body decided to take a nap. What I SHOULD have done was bring a gym bag with me to work and go immediately to the gym. Instead, I just got in 20 minutes on the elliptical. Which, I suppose, is better than nothing. It's definitely been hard getting back into working out after missing so much time from being sick.

So, I've spoken with several different woman on what to wear while going to the gym. Two of them have been completely opposite in what to wear. One is practical, in wearing only what feels comfortable, and not caring what it looks like. The other wants to wear make-up and look extremely cute. I think I'm pretty much right in between the both of them. I want to look cute, wear cute workout clothes that is, but not get so dramatic as to wear make-up while at the gym. As a single person, you never know who may be interested and I don't wanna look too much like a hot mess. ;) Which would be weird anyway since I HATE when people (strangers) talk to me at the gym.

I weighed myself at the gym today. A solid 155lbs. I would like to get to 145lbs by Dec 6; which is when I go to El Paso to visit my parents for Christmas (just a short weekend trip). We're taking Christmas photo's while I'm there.

{Cardio day}

I went to the gym for 25 minutes of elliptical time this morning before work. Tomorrow I'll work 5am-1pm so I'll definitely go to the gym after work. Maybe a nap first. ;)
